Delhi: Gold Bars Worth Rs 1.95 Crore Recovered From Aircraft Toilet At IGI Airport

Gold bars worth Rs 1.95 crore were recovered from an airplane lavatory at New Delhi IGI Airport and Rs 2 crore from an international aviator lavatory at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) on Sunday.

Officials said that based on data obtained and developed by IGI Airport Customs officials, an aircraft used for international flights was searched following the cessation of subsequent domestic flights at IGI Terminal 2 in New Delhi.

During a search of the plane, customs officers found a gray handbag strapped under the bathroom sink. The gray pouch contained four rectangular bars of gold weighing approximately 3.969 grams.

The estimated total customs value of the 4 rectangular gold bars is Rs 1,9572,400 according to the official statement.
