Delhi metro stations decked up for the G-20 Summit

According to Recent news in New Delhi, The Delhi metro rail Corporation has beautified some of its stations ahead of the so-called G-20 summit. The most prominent stations in the vicinity area where all the G 20 activities could take place is such as the Supreme Court which is at Pragati Maidan and Mandi House these two have been given a facelift.

Exterior painting, landscaping work and also the artistic adornment of the metro pillar and sprucing off the façade have also been taken up as the major part of G 20 summit.

The G 20 summit will be taking place on the date of September 9th and 10th and the conference venue would be the newly developed Bharat Mandapam. Delhi Metro station has over 254 stations and according to all the metro station officials, only the areas of the station where G 20 summit or movement is expected are given the facelift.

According to DMR officials such stations had been beautified and many steps are taken to improve their façade. The exterior which includes boundary walls and piers was given a new coat of paint. All the horticulture requirements were also boosted. Aesthetic enhancement work is also being taken up at several stations and some of them are Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, New Delhi, Qutub Minar, ITO, Shivaji Stadium, Delhi Aerocity and Dwarka Sector-31.

Other than the exterior painting and all the façade work going at the metro station there are 130 metro pillars on the airport express lines, which straddle the route of G20 delegates and were adorned with creative artwork. The elevated stretch of the corridor has almost 294 pillars out of which 87 have been rented out for several advertisements, 71 come under the ridge area and five are being used as vertical gardens. 

According to the DMRC officials, the work of having the artwork on all the pillars has begun at the Ridge area and has moved along the national highway and ended near the Delhi Aerocity which is considered an underground station. These even included 23 pillars of the pedestrian bridge which has connected Dhaula station with Durgabai Deshmukh south campus station.

It was the first time that the Delhi Metro had undertaken to beautify the metro pillar for any event. All the metro stations now have the logo of G 20 which is displayed at prominent places. Eight metro stations which have high footfalls indeed have cutouts of the logos and signage of G 20.
