(VIDEO) Stepmother Checks Nanny Cam: “I Want To Kick Her (Bleep)”

A North Carolina stepmother was at work when she randomly happened to check her nanny cam. She regrettably encountered a distressing scene that made her want to slap the babysitter. She’s since shared the disturbing footage as a warning to other parents. Be forewarned, it’s hard to watch.

Newsner said Laura Oglesby, a North Carolina stepmother, decided to check in on her 2-year-old stepson during a break while she was at work. Nothing, though, could have ready her for the view she would find upon flipping on the nanny cam. Not seeing a content toddler under the watchful babysitter appalled the worried parent, but rather what was happening in her home while she was away.

Oglesby heard her stepson, Declan, yelling out as she turned on the nanny cam from seated in his highchair. As his stepmother watched Lauren Rowe force-feeding the 2-year-old while pinning the boy’s arms down, it turns out the lad had every reason to object. Declan shrieked as Rowe pushed pot pie sloshfuls into his mouth. He cried out for his parents and tried to resist Rowe, but NO!; the nanny was not deterred.

According to the NY Post, Rowe yelled at the crying youngster, “We are learning today.” Telling him repeatedly to “eat his food,” she said, “you need to learn that you need to eat your food, and then we can be all done.” He was crying for his parents. The video also shows Rowe chatting on the phone, audible and seen. She informs the person on the line, “If we didn’t control our 2-year-old, he would walk all over us.”

The shocking footage immediately infuriated Laura Oglesby and her husband, Max, and rightfully so. Oglesby said, “I wanted to kick her (bleep), I wanted to come here and pin her down and I wanted to put food in her mouth,” but since she and Max were roughly an hour’s drive away from the house, the North Carolina couple was compelled to call Declan’s birth mother, who apparently lived close by. Driven home, broken and worried, they asked the boy’s mother to go get their son.

Max said his son’s arms were bruised when they arrived at Declan since his hands were held down. Equipped with the video proof of the horrific event, Laura and Max Oglesby notified the police. The New Bern police grabbed Lauren Rowe and charged her with misdemeanor child abuse. She was also let go, thanks in part to Laura sending the now-former nanny a harshly wordy text message.

“You are no longer needed to nanny for us, and my suggestion is that you nanny at least not at all until you learn how to patiently handle children,” the unhappy stepmom wrote. “The way you treated Declan tonight in the high chair attempting to force-feed him is classic child abuse. tonight you broke the heart of a mother.

Laura Oglesby also posted on Facebook saying she was “emotionally drained by this whole experience,” but she added their “main goal now is to make sure this sticks to her like glue so she can’t ever do this sort of thing to a child, dog, or person in general ever again.” The couple decided to distribute the video so others might see Lauren Rowe’s capabilities in hopes of doing just that.

“We put it out there since, without knowledge, people would still hire her,” Max said to the Sun Journal. Max revealed in the Daily Mail that the video the devastated dad and his wife showed of the incident was just “a small clip of the two hours [Rowe] spent doing this to our son.” And I was absent, Max said. “S*** hurts..”

Lauren Rowe’s actions toward their two-year-old son, Max and Laura Oglesby, will now cause them difficulty trusting a stranger with their child. “You don’t expect it to happen to yours,” the father said. “She came recommended to my wife on a Facebook page for New Bern mothers. She has a check on freakking care.com. We followed the correct course, in my opinion as well. “We are furious this happened and heartbroken for our son.”

Common in America today, these parents made the difficult decision many others must make and hired a nanny so both of them could work. Sadly, they believe an unworthy person is trustworthy. We appreciate it, though, that they had extra precautions in place in search of his protection. The nanny cam proved useful even though they couldn’t stop the incident from happening since it guaranteed it wouldn’t recur. We shudder to consider how terrible the abuse might have gotten if Lauren Rowe had gone undetectable on camera.
